Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding change in the classification of the panchayat area from CRZ III to CRZ II, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, 01/08/2017
Order of the National Green Tribunal (Southern Zone, Chennai) in the matter of Blaicy Dixon Vs Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority dated 01/08/2017 regarding change in the classification of the panchayat area (Kadinamkulam Grama Panchayat, Thiruvananthapuram) from CRZ III (CRZ-III covers areas that are relatively undisturbed) to CRZ II (areas that have already been developed).
NGT in its Order said that the Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority has to conduct public hearing on all districts before finalising the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan of Kerala and know the views of the Panchayat. In addition if it is a developed Panchayat then it has to be classified as CRZ-II developed area. At present all the Panchayat areas are classified as CRZ-III.
