Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Research Foundation for Science Vs Union of India & Others dated 18/04/2018 regarding provision of clean drinking water to residents living around Union Carbide plant, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. In the response filed on behalf of the State of Madhya Pradesh, so far as the status of provision for drinking water is concerned, it has been stated that in the additional 20 localities water is being regularly supplied to a total of 3313 households which have been provided with water tap connections. It is also stated that against the requirement of 150 ltrs. of water per day per person, nearly 244 ltrs. of water per day per person is being provided which is well within the criteria laid down by the Central Public Health Engineering and Environment Organization (CPHEEO) Manual.
