Judgement of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Bilquis Vs The State of Maharashtra & Others dated 11/05/2018 regarding the judgement dated 02.09.2014 passed by the High Court of Judicature at Bombay, Nagpur Bench. The High Court had reduced the compensation to Rs.50,000/- per hectare for irrigated land and Rs.9,500/- per hectare for dry land from Rs.1,62,500/- per hectare awarded (uniformly) by the Reference Court. The High Court has also set aside the award of compensation to the claimant at Rs.1200/- per orange tree. The land in contention is survey no. 32 measuring 9 Hectares and 20 Areas of village Pimpri Mokhed, Taluka Karanja, District Akola, Maharashtra was acquired for the purpose of construction of ‘Percolation Tank’ at village Pimpri Mokhad.

Supreme Court sets aside the Judgement of the High Court and said that the claimant are entitled to all statutory benefits including solatium and interest as per law.
