Order of the Supreme Court regarding illegal industrial units running in residential areas, Delhi, 11/10/2018
Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 11/10/2018 regarding relocation of industries in Delhi. The 48th Progress Report of the Monitoring Committee has recommended closing down of illegal activities running in residential and non conforming areas of Delhi. 
Court finds that 5000 illegal industrial units are still running in residential / non conforming areas. Supreme Court expresses its dissatisfaction and said that even after 14 years the concerned authorities namely the Chief Secretary of Delhi; the Commissioner of Police, Delhi; the Vice Chairman of DDA and the three Municipal Commissioners have not been able to close down these illegal residential / non conforming areas and directs that the 5000 illegal industrial units still running in residential / non conforming areas be closed down.
