Judgement of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Common Cause Vs Union of India & Others dated 12/11/2018 regarding illegalities involved in the mining lease of Sarda Mines Private Limited, District Keonjhar, Orissa.
Supreme Court directs that Central Empowered Committee to rework the quantum of excessive or illegal mining carried out by SMPL and the consequent penalty. For this, Court grants 6 weeks’ time to the CEC to do the needful. Supreme Court further directs that all records relevant for arriving at a decision should be made available by SMPL and the concerned authorities to the CEC.
