Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding a policy for effective use and disposal of antimony coated solar panels, 27/02/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Niharika Vs Union of India & Others dated 27/02/2019 regarding uses, manufacture and import o solar module and glass containing antimony in the country. The applicant wants framing of a policy for effective disposal of solar module/ solar panel. A report from experts submitted before the Tribunal states that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is preparing a blue print on the issue which shall thereafter be sent to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The MoEF & CC shall then frame a policy and issue appropriate direction so as to have an effective use and disposal of Antimony Coated Solar Panels.
NGT directs MOEF & CC to complete the exercise of preparing and declaring the policy within three weeks, after receipt of the blue print from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
