Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding installation of rainwater harvesting systems in all the schools and colleges in NCT Delhi, 28/03/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Mahesh Chandra Saxena Vs Govt. of NCT of Delhi & Other dated 28/03/2019 regarding installation of rainwater harvesting systems in all the schools and colleges (private or government) in NCT Delhi. This review application has been filed in relation to orders dated 30.01.2019 and 22.02.2019 for compliance of the order dated 16.11.2017. The Order of 16.11.2017 had passed the following directions: 1. All the schools and colleges (private or government) in NCT Delhi shall install rainwater harvesting systems, if not already installed, within a period of two months from today at their own cost. 2. Any institution which does not comply with these directions shall be liable to pay a environmental compensation of Rs. 5 Lakh after expiry of the period of two months granted in this judgment.
The NGT dismisses the Review Application that had the work of execution of the order of November 2017 had started on time, the work would have been completed much earlier. Further the defaulting persons are liable for further compensation/cost for not completing the rainwater harvesting system within the time schedule.
