  • 26/04/2019

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Gopal Chandra Sinha Vs Union of India & Others dated 26/04/2019 regarding eco-restoration of rivers to save forests from being flooded. According to the applicant, working plan for forests for scientific management requires reduction of siltation of water and reservoirs. This requires collection of boulders/silt from the river beds in the forest area. National Working Plan Code -2014 provides for sustainable management of forest and bio-diversity which requires controlled dredging to maintain e-flow.

The NGT directs the Principal Secretary (Forests) Uttar Pradesh to submit an action taken report in the matter within three months.
