Technology innovation to accelerate energy transitions
The report summarises IEA’s work tracking trends, developing analysis and providing recommendations on innovation in the energy sector. This includes the tracking of investments in innovation from both the public and corporate sectors, and leadership in innovation policy best practice through its in-depth reviews, roadmaps and energy technology perspectives. A key component of the analysis is the tracking of research and innovation needs spanning all fuels and technologies. Drawing on the expertise of IEA experts and the IEA technology network, the report presents a new online tool to help identify priorities for research, development and demonstration through 100 innovation gaps: key areas where further efforts to accelerate innovation are needed.
