Question raised in Lok Sabha on Implementation of Motor Vehicles Act, 05/12/2019. The increase in fines/penalties is to ensure greater compliance and enhance deterrence for violation of traffic rules to a large extent. As per the information available in the e-challan database of National Informatics Centre (NIC), reduction in the cases of traffic rules violation in the country has been observed since the implementation of the higher penalties provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019
