Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding stone crushers in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, 20/12/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Pritam Singh Vs Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir & Others dated 20/12/2019 regarding illegal operation of stone crushers and hot mix plants operating in District Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir, adversely affecting the ecology of the area. The applicant has annexed list of 26 stone crushers and hot mix plants.
It was further alleged that dumping of residual matter directly into the river was coloring the water of the Chenab river which was affecting the aquatic life therein, in District Ramban, J&K, which is purely a hill district.
The NGT directed a Joint Committee comprising of the Central Pollution Control Board, Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board and District Magistrate, Ramban to submit a report on the matter within one month.
