Report to the NGT on illegal sand mining in river Ganga in Dibai tehsil, district Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh

Compliance report by the District Magistrate, Bulandshahr and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board on Original Application No. 895/2019 in the matter of Arvind Prabhat, Editor-in-chief, News India 9 Vs State of Uttar Pradesh regarding illegal sand mining in river Ganga in Dibai tehsil, district Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh.

At the time of inspection on November 23, 2019 sand mining work was found under progress by using semi mechanised method at village Unchagaon Khadar, tehsil Dibai. Sand filling vehicles was found covered by plastic sheets and water sprinklered on transport route and no vehicle was found emitting dust at high speed. The Ganga river was "flowing in natural condition" and no embankments constructed artificially at the sand mining area. A conditional environment clearance has been granted for sand mining in the area by the State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Uttar Pradesh in December 18, 2018.
