Report by Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board on environmental violations by medical colleges, Salem, Tamil Nadu
Action taken report filed by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board in the matter of Trustee, Environment Protection and Anti Pollution Group Trust Vs State of Tamil Nadu & Others regarding private medical colleges operating in Salem district, Tamil Nadu without obtaining Environmental Clearance as per EIA Notification, 2006 as amended and the private medical colleges are discharging sewage and effluent without proper treatment in public sewers and open channels.
The report mentioned that the state PCB has taken necessary action against two erring medical colleges located in the Salem district for the violations. Further, no environmental violations haave been found in respect of the remaining six medical colleges.
