Report by RSPCB on stone crushers in Moda Pahad area, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, 29/01/2020

Report filed by the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) in compliance of the National Green Tribunal order dated November 25, 2019 in the matter of Mahendra Saini, President, Moda Pahad Sangarsh Samiti. The matter related to 34 illegal stone crushers operating in Moda Pahad area within the municipal limits of Jhunjhunu Municipal Council, within 1.5 km of the habitation and within the prohibited range from a National Highway and a State Highway. Their operation was causing a lot of pollution to the environment and inhabitants.

A report was sought from the RSPCB and SDM, Jhunjhunu on the units. 26 stone crushers were found operational, out of which 10 crushers have rectified the non-compliances and 16 failed to comply. The State Pollution Control Board has issued closure directions under section 31 A of Air Act against the 16 non-compliant stone crushers. Further, electricity connections have been disconnected.
