Report by the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana on disposal of dead animal carcasses in Hadda Roddi, Punjab, 05/03/2020
Action Taken Report from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Punjab in original appliction no. 465 of 2019 in the matter of Kulwinder Singh Sandhu & Others Vs Ram Murti & Others.
In Hadda Roddi, situated along the banks of river Satluj at village Ladhowal spreading in an area of approximately 5.5 acres, dead animal carcases were disposed off and this was the source of foul smell and deteriorating water quality of the river Satluj.
To address the situation, the deputy commissioner, Ludhiana issued directions to Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana to expedite the completion of modern and scientific carcass utilization plant. In addition, the District Development & Panchayat Officer, Ludhiana had been asked to look for alternate sites for disposing off the remains of the dead animals till the completion of the Modern Caracas Utilization Plant and the Punjab Pollution Control Board has to keep a regular strict vigil at the site of Hadda Roddi so that no further activities that pollute River Satluj can be carried out at the site.
