Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam report on installation of STPs in Sant Kabir Nagar and Gorakhpur, 15/06/2020
Submission of comppliance report by Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam in the matter of Original Application 116/2014 in the matter of Meera Shukla Vs Municipal Corporation, Gorakhpur & Others dated June 15, 2020. The matter related to pollution of Ramgarh lake, Ami river, Rapti river and Rohani river, District Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The rivers in question are tributary of river Ghaghara which in turn is a tributary of river Ganga.
The report informed the NGT on the status of installation of STPs/CETPs in district Sant Kabir Nagar and Gorakphpur. Out of 9 major drains falling in river Rapti without treatment, 8 major drains havd been proposed for interception, diversion and treatment under Namami Gange Project (Phase-I) amounting to about Rs. 240.00 crore. The catchment area related to one major drain falling in river Rapti without treatment, is seprated by Gorakhpur-Lucknow four lane road, hence a seprate project (Phase-II) under Namami Gange would be prepared and submitted by August 2020.
In compliance to the directions of the NGT regarding pollution of Aami river caused by municipal and industrial effluent in district Sant Kabir Nagar, DPRs for I&D and STP works for Khalilabad and Maghar Town have been sent to NMCG, New Delhi by Project Director, SMCG Lucknow which amounted to Rs. 33.20 crore and Rs. 19.88 crore respectively.
