Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding Sanjay lake pollution, Delhi, 07/08/2020
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of R. P. Singhal Vs Govt. of Delhi NCT & Others dated 07/08/2020. Grievance in this application was that Sanjay Lake and Sanjay Lake Park near Mayur Vihar, Delhi were being polluted for which the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) had to take necessary steps. Concretization around the trees was taking place in violation of orders of the court.
The NGT sought an action taken report from DDA and DTTDC on January 14, 2020. No response was filed by the DDA. The response filed by the DTTDC was that no pollution was being caused in running of the boats in the lake. With regard to the issue of concretization of the trees, action had to be taken by the DDA. The NGT directed the DDA to file its response within one month.
