Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding pollution of Khari river, Rajasthan, 26/08/2020
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Om Singh Chundawat Vs State of Rajasthan & Others dated 26/08/2020. By filing the present application the applicant had raised the issue of encroachment of Khasra No. 41/2 which is said to be a road and the villagers were using it for travelling and the mining department illegally encroached both sides of the said road for mining and marked the area as mining area. Due to mining the water quality of the River Khari which is generally and mainly used for drinking purposes and for cattles has been seriously damaged and there is threat to flora and fauna including the interest of the more than thousands families residing there.
The NGT directed the constitution of a Committee consisting (i) District Mining Officer/Collector (Mining) and (ii) Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (SPCB). The Committee would submit a factual and action taken report within six weeks.
