PPCB report on discharge of waste water in village Kot Khurd, Jalandhar, Punjab, 01/09/2020

Report by Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) in Execution Application No. 10/2020 in Original Application No. 492/2019 in the matter of Gurmail Singh Vs State of Punjab. An application was filed by one Gurmail Singh of village Kot Khurd, Jalandhar complaining that the entire waste water/effluent of the village was being discharged directly into the pond, adjacent to his house. The officer of the Panchayati Raj Department has said that the pond near the complainant's house was quite old and Gurmail Singh had constructed his house thereafter near the pond.

The Department of Rural Development and Panchayat would make the necessary arrangements to increase/ augment the capacity of pond situated on the outskirts of the village Kot Khurd to accommodate and treat entire waste water and effluent of the village and to stop discharge of waste water into the pond adjacent to Gurmail Singh (complainant) house within 3 months. The Soil and Water Conservation Department would prepare and implement the irrigation scheme for utilization of entire waste water of the village through pond situated on the outskirts of village within three months. The District Development Panchayat Officer (DDPO), Jalandhar would coordinate with all the concerned departments and Sarpanch of village Kot Khurd to complete the works well within the scheduled time, the PPCB report said.
