Two Hundred Twenty Ninth Report on Management of COVID-19 Pandemic and Related Issues: Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs
The Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, presented this Two Hundred Twenty Ninth Report on 'Management of COVID-19 Pandemic and Related Issues‘ to Rajya Sabha on 2nd February, 2021. COVID-19 Pandemic has created an unprecedented global crisis and the Government of India is treating the same as National Disaster. When the lockdown was imposed in March, 2020 no one was aware of the magnitude of this problem. Pandemic hit the country with devastating effect when the economy was already sliding. Reviving the economy is crucial for restoring the jobs both in the organized and informal sectors. The MSMEs are one of the worst-hit sectors of the economy due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and measures are needed for its restructuring and revival. More than 30% of the production comes from MSMEs, which employ a sizeable part of the Indian workforce. About 45% of exports also come from the MSME sector. Therefore, any sharp decline in this sector has an overall impact on the Indian economy.
