Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Wildlife Society of Orissa Vs State of Odisha & Others dated 16/08/2021.
The matter related to the presence of barbed wire fencing in the various forest areas of the reserve forests - Dhama Range of Sambalpur, Anantarpur Reserve Forest, Kandhara Reserve Forest etc. which is hindering free movement of elephants resulting in death of some animals due to accidents.
The NGT directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force, Bhubaneswar to file a report in the matter before September 27, 2021.
