Adapting urban transport to climate change
This module explores the impact wreaked by extreme weather events on cities and their transport networks and means by which resilience can be built up against the increasing frequency and intensity of these events. Low lying coastal and delta cities bear the brunt of extreme weather and the poor and most vulnerable groups are disproportionately affected. Disruptions to the transport network impairs access to education, jobs, markets, services and products with hard-hitting ramifications on the broader economy and society for extended periods of time. This module is designed to introduce climate adaptation to urban leaders, city departments and other organizations with responsibility for urban transport, along with their engineers, planners, as well as infrastructure and transport service operators.
