Additional action taken report submitted by the Additional Chief Secretary, Local Self Government Department regarding plastic waste management, Kerala.
Sanction has been accorded for setting up of an integrated plastic waste management facility at Kunnamthanam, Pathanamthitta for an amount of Rs. 456 lakhs under Rebuild Kerala Initiative Scheme. Suchitwa Mission has invited Resource Recovery Facility (RPF) for plastic waste management for urban local bodies in Kerala.
"The empaneled agencies shall work with urban local bodies (ULBs) in Kerala with an objective of ensuring 100% processing on non-recyclable plastics that have been segregated and collected by the ULB," the report to the NGT, July 14, 2022 said.
Suchitwa Mission is Kerala's solid waste management project with financial assistance from the World Bank. The project aims to strengthen the institutional and service delivery systems for waste management services at a regional scale and in select urban areas (Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)) in Kerala.
