Environmental compensation imposed on Municipal Corporation, Panna for non compliance of MSW Rules 2016
Action taken report by the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) in the matter of Dr. Sarvam Ritam Khare Vs State of Madhya Pradesh & Others.
The Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) has said in its report to the NGT that Rs. 99 lakh has been assessed as environmental compensation to be imposed on Nagar Palika Parishad, Panna for non compliance of MSW Rules 2016. The compensation has been imposed for the period of January - June 2022.
The matter related to discharge of untreated sewage effluent into the Kilkila river by the Municipal Corporation, Panna degrading the water quality of the river and adversely affecting the agricultural land and public health.
