Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding establishment of a waste processing unit at Shishambara, Dehradun, 20/10/2022
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rajender Gangsari Vs State of Uttarakhand dated 20/10/2022.
The Pachwadun Sanyukt Samiti filed a petition, complaining about illegal establishment of waste processing unit by Nagar Nigam Dehradun at Shishambada Selakui which is polluting river Aasan, contaminating ground water and causing air pollution in the area. This is posing serious health hazards to the residents of the locality and severely damaging the environment.
The Tribunal vide its order, August 2, 2022 had directed a joint committee to submit a report. However the report was not received.
The NGT directed the joint committee to file the report within one month. The court also directed the personal appearance of Regional Officer, District Magistrate and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun on the next date of hearing (January 23, 2023) through video conferencing. This the court said was "essential for producing the relevant documents and assisting the court in just and proper adjudication of the questions involved in the case."
