Flood plain zone of river Ghaggar under process, Haryana, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, 13/02/2023

Reply from the Commissioner and Secretary to government of Haryana, Irrigation and Water Resources Department in compliance of National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders dated 11/01/2023.

The report informed the Tribunal that construction and demolition waste from Ghaggar plain has been lifted and disposed off with the help of the District Administration, HSVP and Municipal Corporation of Panchkula. The Municipal Commissioner has been asked to stop the further dumping of C&D material in future on the banks of river Ghaggar by installing CCTV cameras, issue of notices and challans and deployment of manpower of watch and ward.

Haryana Irrigation & Water Resources Department with the help of Halka Patwaris has surveyed the whole area of the flood plain zone of Ghaggar river in district Panchkula. Requisite Sajra plan (village map) has been obtained from the Revenue Department and the work of demarcation of a flood plain zone is under process in Water Services Sub Division, Panchkula. The process of demarcation on Sajra plan will be done within seven days and the file for the notification of the flood plain zone under Canal & Drainage Act, 1974 will be sent to the government subsequently.
