Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding solid waste management in Bakriyanwali, Sirsa district, Haryana, 27/04/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Kuldeep Kasaniya Vs State of Haryana dated 27/04/2023.
Grievance in the application was against failure of Nagar Parishad Sirsa, Haryana to manage solid waste in village Bakriyanwali, Sirsa. It was stated that earlier an integrated waste management plant was set up at the site which included a waste to energy plant. Huge amount was spent. The said plant has since been closed but the waste has remained unmanaged which was adversely affecting the environment and public health and also fertility of agricultural land in the vicinity. Monitoring Committee of NGT visited the site on April 19,2022 and gave suggestions to the district administration but no remedial action has been taken.
The NGT directed the District Magistrate, Sirsa, Nagar Parishad Sirsa and Haryana State Pollution Control Board to look into the matter and take remedial action, following due process of law.
