Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding pollution of river Suswa by release of polluted water at village Dodwala and Nauka, district Dehradun, Uttarakhand, 27/04/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Subedar Major Rajendra Prasad Vs State of Uttarakhand dated 27/04/2023.
Grievance in the application is against pollution of river Suswa by release of polluted water at village Dodwala and Nauka in district Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It was stated that apart from sewage water, plastic bags are also being dumped in the drain which is affecting environment and public health. The area has been included in the urban area of Dehradun. Remedial measures have not being taken so far to address the issue the complainant said.
Having regard to above, the NGT was of the opinion that the matter needs to be looked into and remedial action taken by the District Magistrate, Dehradun and State PCB following due process of law. It may be ensured that untreated sewage and plastic are not discharged and dumped into the river, the court said.
