Order of the Supreme Court of India regarding rights of persons suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder
Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Shaurya Foundation Trust Vs Union of India dated 08/05/2023.
The apex court noted that the petitioner has raised significant issues relating to formulation of guidelines under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 for the inclusion of persons affected with with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The SC sought government of India's response on the PIL for the welfare of persons suffering from ASD.
A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices P S Narasimha and J B Pardiwala took note of the submissions of lawyer Gaurav Kejriwal, appearing for NGO Shaurya Foundation Trust, and issued notices on its PIL.
