Affidavit filed by the District Magistrate, Haridwar regarding protection of Solani river, Roorkee, Uttarakhand, 03/07/2023
All efforts are made to ensure that the flood plain zone of the river Solani, Roorkee is notified by December 2024 in accordance with the Uttarakhand Flood Plain Zoning Act 2012. This was mentioned in the affidavit filed by the District Magistrate, Haridwar in compliance with directions of the National Green Tribunal vide its order dated April 18, 2023.
The matter related to encroachment on the flood plain zone of river Solani. All illegal encroachments have been removed from the floodplains of river Sonali by the Department of Irrigation. The Project Manager, Construction and Maintenance Unit (Ganga), Uttarakhand Peyjal Nigam has said that the overall survey work for the sewage treatment plant including measurement of the total discharge falling into the river has already been completed.
After joint inspection, the demand for land for construction of the STP has been raised and work related to preparation of final estimate and detailed project report will follow immediately after the availability of land is confirmed, according to the report, July 3, 2023.
