Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Sandeep Kumar Gupta Vs State of Haryana & Others dated 07/07/2023.
The matter related to violation of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 and violation of the guidelines issued by the NGT by the Municipal Corporation, Hisar.
According to the applicant, the household waste is collected without segregation. The wet and dry waste is not only being collected as mixed waste but domestic hazardous waste is also being collected as mixed waste. The garbage disposal vehicles do not reach all households as a result of which the citizens are forced to dump the garbage in the open, the applicant said.
The NGT called for submission of a report in the matter from a joint committee consisting of the Collector, Hisar and one representative from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board. The committee was directed to visit the place and submit the factual and action taken report within four weeks.
The report need to include the status of solid waste management for Hisar, including quantification in terms of waste generation, waste processed and remedial measures taken to bridge the gap between waste generation and processing and legacy waste remediated. The matter has been listed for further consideration, September 6, 2023.
