Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Purab Premium Apartment Allottees Association Vs Greater Mohali Area Development Authority & Others dated 17/08/2023.
The grievance of the applicant is with regard to Environmental Clearance for construction of 6360 Flats (Type 1- 1080, Type II-2520 and Type III-2760 Flats in an area of 117.118 acres by Greater Mohali Area Development Authority which was sanctioned by the State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Punjab vide order dated March 14, 2013 with the condition that same will be completed within a time limit of five years.
However, the Project Proponent has failed to complete the project within the time limit of five years and there are allegations that the conditions of EC with regard to installation of sewage treatment plant, providing the adequate drinking water, rain water harvesting system, solid waste management system were not complied with by the project proponent.
The NGT, August 17, 2023 directed a three member committee to visit the place and submit the factual and action taken report. Punjab State Pollution Control Board would be the nodal agency for coordination and compliance. The court will next hear the case on November 8, 2023.
