Report by the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board regarding illegal cutting/uprooting of khair trees in Rail Beat area falling in Dada Seeba forest range, district Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
Enquiry report filed by DFO Dehra to the PCCF (HoFF) and HPSPCB stated that the offenders responsible for the illegal cutting and uprooting of trees have been identified by the forest officials, Khair tree logs were recovered from their possession and the compensation fee has also been charged from the offenders.
The damage reports for illegal felling of trees have been chalked out by forest officials and compensation fees has been deposited in the government treasury. Other steps for compensatory afforestation and mass awareness have also been taken/initiated by the forest department. Regular group patrolling and nakkas are being conducted by the forest staff of Dadasiba range to protect the forest and wildlife from smugglers. Awareness cum plantation drives have also been conducted by the officials of HPSPCB in association with the Forest Department, Dadasiba.
