National framework for promoting energy storage systems
The Ministry of Power (MoP) has issued national framework aimed at promoting energy storage systems (ESS). The key objectives of the framework are to ensure a constant supply of renewable energy, reduce emissions, and lower energy costs by incentivising ESS deployment while reducing the reliance on fossil fuel power plants. It also seeks to enhance grid stability and reliability through ESS deployment, stimulate innovation in energy storage technologies, and ensure equitable access to energy storage for all segments of the population. The framework includes the promotion of battery storage systems as well as pumped storage systems.
