Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Gopal Sharma Vs State of Himachal Pradesh dated 25/09/2023.
The issue raised in original application (116/2023) was against discharge of industrial waste by Acme Formulation Ltd. in open and also construction of extension at Chowkiwala, Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh in violation of environmental norms. The tribunal by order dated March 16, 2023 had formed a joint committee with the direction to submit the action taken report.
The committee in its report, June 8, 2023 stated that no waste water discharge was observed in the adjoining areas of the unit but consent to operate letter dated November 1, 2022 mentions disposal of the treated water by way of irrigation/gardening. The same is also reflected in the consent to establish (expansion) dated September 23, 2022. The NGT, September 25, taking into consideration, the joint committee report directed the personal appearance of the Environmental Engineer, Himachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board (HPPCB), Bilaspur on the next date of hearing (December 15, 2023) and to explain the anomalies pointed out in the joint committee report.
