MSW dumping site visit report of Valsad nagarpalika, near Auranga river by a committee on the orders of the NGT, 03/10/2023
Site visit report in Original Application No.57/2023 (WZ) (Earlier OA No.540/2022) (Prakashbhai Premabhai Patel & Ors. V/s State Of Gujrat).
The matter is related to the municipal solid waste dumping site of Valsad nagarpalika, near Auranga river. Currently Valsad nagarpalika is dumping MSW at dumping site Sandhpore (near Railway Bridge at Auranga river). The nagarpalika has not developed scientific landfill site for the disposal of MSW.
The MSW dumping site is located just adjacent to the bank of river Auranga. At present they dispose MSW on open land near STP adjacent to the bank of river Auraga. MSW is received from residential, commercial, hotels and non-residential areas of nagarpalika area and dumped at the bank of Auranga river near railway bridge through tractor, tempo.
Nagarpalika has stored waste haphazardly at the site and there is no development for fresh waste processing by Valsad nagarpalika and till date work has not started for processing of legacy waste. During inspection animals grazing was observed on MSW dumping site and no waste processing was observed.
