Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding inefficient waste disposal in Faridabad, Haryana, 31/10/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of In re: News item appearing in The Tribune dated 03.10.2023 titled “Faridabad residents see red over inefficient waste disposal” dated 31/10/2023.
A news item published in Tribune, October 3, 2023 mentioned about the dumping of solid waste and garbage at various spots including roadsides, green belts and along the bypass road that is being converted into an expressway. Report by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) stated that due to breakdown of vehicles and insufficient deployment on the part of M/s. Ecogreen, the BPTP transfer station became filled with garbage, resulting in a temporary accumulation of waste outside the transfer station.
The NGT, took note that remedial action has been taken and directed the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) to take appropriate action in accordance with law for the past violations and also to ensure that no garbage and solid waste is collected /stored on the spot in question. The fresh report will be filed specifically indicating the status of collection, storage, transportation and processing of waste within three months by the HSPCB, the order said.
