Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Jaishree Bansal Vs Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change & Others dated 01/11/2023.
The Tribunal while considering the issue of unscientific handling of solid waste in village Jagjeevanpur, Paragana Jalalabad, tehsil and district Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh by order dated April 26, 2023 had directed the Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh to file a report.
The report was to contain remedial measures as well the status of legacy waste at the site in question and adequacy of waste processing facilities. The court noted that no report has been filed on behalf of the Chief Secretary, UP. The report by the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN), October 5, 2023 has given no satisfactory explanation for management of current daily waste which is generated within the limits of GNN. Further, no details have been provided on the status of other sites where legacy waste is existing.
NGT granted four weeks time to the Chief Secretary, UP to file the report.
