The matter related to disposal of legacy waste at Kayalpattinam municipality, Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu.
Technical approval for the solid waste disposal work for bio mining waste for a total measurement of 22436 cubic meter in Papparapalli was given at an estimate of Rs 160.5 lakhs.The approval was issued by the Chief Engineer, Directorate of Municipal Administration, Chennai.
The first phase of the work (bio mining of 3458 cu m of waste) was completed on December 24, 2022. In the second phase of work, the biomining of about 4166 cubic meter of waste has been completed as on April 13, 2023. While in the third phase, the bio mining of 4645 cubic meter of waste has been completed as of October 6, 2023.
At present, the fourth phase of work is being carried out for about 10167 cubic meters of waste as measured by Anna University and the same is scheduled to be completed within 30 days, subject to climatic conditions - if possible, the process will be completed by the end of December 2023.
