Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding illegal sand mining in Jharkhand, 28/11/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News Item titled “Despite National Green Tribunal Ban, illegal sand mining is going on in Jharkhand” appearing in Prabhat Khabar dated 08.09.2023.
The matter related to illegal sand mining in Jharkhand. The NGT, November 28 directed notice to be issued to the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, Central Pollution Control Board, state of Jharkhand and State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Jharkhand.
The respondents have been directed to file their reply within two months time. The joint committee constituted by the tribunal to look into the matter was also directed to file its report within two months.
The districts in respect of which the allegations of illegal sand mining have been made are mentioned in the complaint as being Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, Latehar, Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Gumla, Garhwa and Koderma. The committee shall submit its report with regard to mining in all the districts said the order passed by the Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata.
