Goa Provision of Water Supply Rules, 2023
Non-payment of water supply bills beyond two months shall be liable for disconnection, states the Goa Provision of Water Supply Rules 2023. The rules notified by the public works department state that immediately after disconnection of water supply, the concerned assistant engineer shall forward such cases to the executive engineer for recovery of dues being the recovery officer to exercise and perform all the powers and functions of a collector under the Goa [Public Moneys] (Recovery of Dues) Act, 1986 (Act 10 of 1987). The rules further said that disconnection of service connection shall be effected, at the request of the consumer, if the consumer does not require water supply for more than three months or for the period mentioned in his application, provided that there are no outstanding dues and re-connection shall be effected on payment of applicable charges and on receiving the request any time from the date of disconnection.
