Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding illegal construction in the core area of Kali Tiger Reserve, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka, 30/01/2024
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News Item titled "Core breach as structure set up in Kali Tiger Reserve" appearing in the Bangalore Mirror dated 28.12.2023.
The media report says that on illegal construction and infrastructure development in the core area of Kali Tiger Reserve has been created illegally and without approval of the competent authorities.
Counsel appearing on behalf of Karnataka said that the alleged construction has nothing to do with the tourism but it is a protection camp crated by the forest department for preventing and illegal felling of trees in core area. The counsel sought for 15 days time to file a reply placing on record the nature of construction raised in the area concerned.
NGT allowed 15 days time to file response and transferred the matter to the Southern Zone Bench of the NGT for further proceedings.
