Reply affidavit by Maharashtra Pollution Control Board in Original Application No 32/2023 (WZ) (Raju alias Devavappa Anna Shetty & Others Vs M/s Shri Dutt India Pvt Ltd & Others) dated 17/02/2024.
The SPCB informed said that total environmental damage compensation (EDC) amounting to Rs 90 crore has been calculated and the same has been communicated to Sangli Miraj and Kupwad City Municipal Corporation.
The NGT, November 29, 2023 had directed levying of environmental compensation and penalty to Sangli Miraj and Kupwad City Municipal Corporation and accordingly environmental compensation has been calculated by the MPCB. The matter related to pollution of river Krishna by discharge of untreated effluent into the river by several industries situated near Mouje Digraj, Palus to Sangli area in district Sangli.
