  • 19/03/2024

Due to scarcity of land and non-participation of bidder in the bidding process for construction of proposed fresh waste processing plant, the fresh waste processing plant at Barasat municipality has not been developed. Therefore, fresh waste from Barasat municipality has accumulated at Pramodnagar dump site which is "beyond control of the administration". The total quantity of waste to be processed at Pramodnagar/Rajivnagar site is 11 lakh MT. In the meantime, an approximate area of 7000 sqm has been reclaimed from the proceeding of legacy waste and fresh waste processing has been initiated as interim basis for two municipalities (North Dum Dum and New Barrackpore municipality) at Pramodnagar/Rajivnagar site.

The above facts were mentioned in the compliance affidavit by the Department of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, West Bengal.
