Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Neeraj Tiwari Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 01/05/2025. The issue involved in the application related to the improper management of solid waste within the municipal limits of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

The Commissioner of Municipal Corporation (MC) Prayagraj has filed the affidavit, April 23, 2025 giving the details of the steps which have been taken for the treatment of legacy waste. Counsel appearing for the Commissioner, MC Prayagraj submitted that the entire 100 per cent legacy waste within the limits of MC Prayagraj will be treated and remediated by June 15, 2025.

In respect of daily generated waste, the tribunal was informed that within the limits of MC Prayagraj 771.53 MT of solid waste is generated daily and there is 100 per cent treatment of the daily generated waste.

Counsel appearing for the applicant sought four weeks’ time to verify the above facts and also file objection/rejoinder to the affidavit of the Commissioner, MC Prayagraj. The court will next hear the case on September 4, 2025.
