Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Jagan Prasad Tehriya Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 23/05/2025. The applicant has alleged large-scale illegal felling of green trees within the Agra district, Uttar Pradesh. The application revealed instances of illegal tree felling at Fatehabad, Sadar, Kiraoli and Agra teshil.

Newspaper articles were filed as evidence which talked about illegal felling of trees in Kiraoli tehsil for building a colony. The counsel for the applicant has referred to the order of the Supreme Court, May , 2025 which said that for any felling of tree within an aerial distance of 5 kms from Taj Mahal, the permission of Supreme Court is required which has not been taken in the present case.

The NGT directed the respondents to file their response at least one week before the next date of hearing, August 29, 2025. The respondents included Zila Panchayat Agra; Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board; Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC); District Magistrate, Agra, District Forest Officer, Agra; Taj Trapezium Zone Authority among others.
