Temperature control: air conditioning, lotus style
The lotus is a member of an exclusive club of plants with ability to regulating their temperatures. Other plants with this quality include skunk cabbage and philodendron (elephants' ear). Scientists at Adelaide University in Australia say the plant regulates its temperature during the pollination cycle. One or two days before flowering, it sets its internal temperature to around 35
