Panda protection
Recently a project has been initiated by the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park situated in Darjeeling, in the state of West Bengal, to protect red pandas from extinction. The 'Red Panda Project' will receive the support and aid of various international and national agencies. The cuddly, small animal - also known as the cat bear - is carnivorous in nature. But the panda has adapted itself to bamboo feeding. This endangered species is found in the Himalyan region.
