Costing the waste
A software company has developed a program that can help companies calculate the net costs and savings from recycling and waste reduction. The program allows users to feed in basic information and calculates, among other things, projected reductions in waste by volume or weight, avoided disposal cost, the net annual costs/savings, the cost per tonne of recycling programmes and waste generation rates (Tomorrow , Vol 7, No 5).
