Telangana State Pollution Control Board report on illegal stone crusher units in Rangareddy and Sangareddy districts, 15/11/2022
Report on status of action taken by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board in the matter of P V Subramanya Varma Vs State of Telangana dated 15/11/2022.
The matter related to the operation of illegal and unauthorised stone crusher units in Vattinagulapally, Kokapet, Gouldoddi, Gopanpally, Kollur, Kotwalguda, Osmannagar villages in Rangareddy and Sangareddy districts. The NGT, October 14, 2022 directed the Telangana SPCB to file a report of status of action taken.
The SPCB officials inspected the stone crushing units existing in 10 kms radius of Himayatsagar and Osmansagar lakes.
The status of stone crushing units are the following:
- Three stone crusher units were found operating with valid consent for operation (CFO) and thus environmental compensation was not levied on these units.
- 13 crushing units were dismantled and no activity was observed in these units.
- 12 stone crushers violating environmental norms were seized by the revenue officials in the presence of Telangana SPCB. After seizure the seized crushers are not in operation and ordered to pay environmental compensation. Among them, M/s. SMI Stone Crusher (Shama Metal Industry) and M/s. DBR Metal Industry both from Kothwalguda, Shamshabad, Rangareddy district was directed to pay Rs 91,25,000 and Rs 83,55,000 respectively.
The SPCB said that it will regularly monitor the stone crushing units for compliance of the directions issued.
